I began practicing Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) when I was five years old, and I opened my own calligraphy school at the age of twenty. Since then, I have dedicated myself to teaching Shodo and exploring the expressive power of brush and ink.

For me, Japanese calligraphy is more than writing characters. It is a way to cultivate the spirit and to connect with centuries of tradition. The subtle fragrance of sumi ink, the soft resistance of the brush gliding over washi paper, and the quiet focus required to complete each stroke all create an experience of deep mindfulness. In many ways, this practice shares the same values as Japanese martial arts — a discipline of respect, precision, and harmony.

I feel grateful every day for the skilled artisans in Japan who produce the materials essential to Shodo: the handmade ink, brushes, paper, and scroll mountings. Thanks to their devotion, I am able to create works that carry the spirit of authentic Japanese craftsmanship.

My wish is simple: to touch someone’s heart through each character I create, and to share the timeless beauty of Japanese traditional art with people around the world.

I have been working in e-commerce and web system development in Japan for over 25 years. After serving as a web engineer at Yahoo! JAPAN for 13 years, I founded my current company in 2016. I also hold a national qualification as a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) consultant, certified by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Today, I am honored to collaborate with Mai, a renowned Shodo artist widely respected in Japan, who now serves as our Chief Calligrapher. Meeting her and the other talented master calligraphers on our team has been an unexpected and fortunate experience for me. Together, we are dedicated to sharing the timeless beauty of Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) with people around the world. Our vision is to present Shodo as an art that enriches modern spaces and inspires those who appreciate the spirit of Japanese martial arts and culture.

I’m also a big sports fan and hold a black belt in Judo.
